Our Mission and Beliefs

Zhong Shan Young Golfer Development Foundation's mission is to promote physical education and development for children and youth under the age of 18 including under-privileged children in Asia including Hong Kong by providing non-profit making educational programmes through golf and other sports.  We recognize that there are many under-privileged children in Asia who face severe challenges and limited opportunities in their personal development and future employment.  Whilst, for some, Asia's rapid economic development has been transformational and created fantastic life-changing opportunities, there are many who have lacked the skills and/or opportunities to participate and benefit.  Without support, they will remain destitute to the suffering of themselves and their families and our society will collectively by worse-off the loss of their contributions.

Our Vision is to provide opportunities to under-privileged children to build character and to fulfill their own potential through sports and, ultimately, to contribute back to society.  More broadly, we firmly believe that such exposure and nurturing through sports can benefit all children in both body and mind.  Sports can develop physical health and encourage children to lead a healthy life-style but furthermore can help children to develop their competitive spirit and self-confidence; instill self-discipline, integrity and motivation; and cultivate a broader appreciation of life.

Our initial focus is on golf, which is almost unique amongst most sports in allowing players of vastly differing abilities to genuinely play and compete together through the handicap system.  Thus golf is a sport that symbolizes the idea of harmonious competition.  Golf is a rapidly growing sport in China and Asia and is also a shared personal passion of the founders.
